Soekarno (1945-1967)

Suharto (1967-1998)

Suharto came to power after Soeharto's forced resignation following student protests. He ruled Indonesia for 32 years, during which he implemented a period of stability known as the New Order.

Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie (1998-1999)

Habibie succeeded Suharto in 1998 and oversaw the transition to democracy in Indonesia. He is credited with initiating several reforms that laid the foundation for the country's democratic system.
